Frontlines & Faultlines is a flagship broadcast of the National Security Institute (NSI) at the University of Canberra, led by the Hon COL Dr Mike Kelly AM (retd) (BA LLB, PhD). This podcast addresses a range of topics related to current issues including, geopolitics, history, military affairs, international law, domestic Australian security, and government policy development. In an era where misinformation and disinformation can rapidly distort our understanding of global and domestic events, this project provides accessible, fact‑based conversations on the issues that matter most.
Meet the Host
Mike Kelly is one of Australia’s most respected national security leaders, with more than three decades of service across military operations, international law, crisis response, and public policy.
He has served in Somalia, Bosnia, Timor‑Leste, Iraq, and Kenya, receiving multiple commendations including the Order of Australia (Military Division).
As a former Federal MP, Minister for Defence Materiel, and member of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security, Mike has shaped major national security initiatives — including the Australian Civil Military Centre.
He now serves as an Adjunct Professor at the National Security Institute at the University of Canberra and continues to lead public conversations on geopolitics, defence, and democracy.
